Therapy for Parents

Parenting can be beautiful, exhausting, hilarious, and overwhelming—sometimes within the same few minutes. At With & Within, there’s room for all of it. Therapy offers a place to understand your reactions, care for your needs, and explore what parenting brings up within you.

You can love your children so freakin' much and still need space for yourself.

Maybe you’re touched out before the day is over. You snap over something small, then replay it long after your child has moved on. You’re trying to be patient, break old patterns, and keep everyone okay, while wondering where your own needs fit.

Parenting can bring you face-to-face with your childhood, expectations, fears, and parts of yourself you didn’t know were there. That doesn’t make you a bad parent. It makes you a human one. We can give you somewhere to talk honestly about the hard parts, understand what’s happening beneath your reactions, and receive support of your own. You don’t have to wait until everything feels like it is falling apart to make room for yourself.

“Kids don’t need a perfectly healed parent, they just need a human one.”

Support for the human behind the parenting.

Therapy starts
with connection.

A place to feel seen and understood while we explore what's happening with and within you.

Explore the patterns you learned

Parenting can bring old relationship patterns into the present, more than most other relationships do. We look at what you learned about emotions, needs, conflict, and connection when you were young, and find what you want to carry forward or approach differently with your own children.

Self-Compassion

Get curious about the moments you snap, freak out, shut down, or feel overwhelmed.

We can explore what those reactions may be responding to, including the parts of you trying to protect, manage, or hold everything together for yourself and your kiddos.

Make room for your needs

Your sensory needs, limits, feelings, and need for rest belong in the conversation.

We explore ways to care for yourself within the realities of your family, including the guilt that can come with needing space or having hard feelings.

Find your way back to connection

There’s room to pause, set a boundary, apologize, and try again. We explore what repair can look like in your family, while making space for the feelings and needs on both sides of the relationship.

Understanding what happens with and within you.

At With & Within, we support you as a parent and a person. Parenting can move quickly from meaningful and hilarious to overstimulating and exhausting. In our work, there’s room for your whole experience, including the feelings you think you’re not supposed to have.

Attachment-focused therapy helps us explore how your earliest relationships influence the way you connect with your children. Internal Family Systems (IFS) brings curiosity to the parts of you that react, worry, shut down, or work hard to get everything right.

We also pay attention to your nervous system, sensory needs, and what helps you feel supported. When appropriate, EMDR can help us work through distressing experiences that still affect you. Together, we make space to understand what happens within you and how it shapes your relationships.
